The Maasai Mara is one of the largest park reserves located in south-western Kenya. Named from the Maasai people (the traditional inhabitants of the area) and the great Mara River, which divides it. Famous for its exceptional population of game and the annual migration of Zebra, Thomson’s Gazelle and the Wilde-beast from the Serengeti (in tanzania) every year from July to October, depending on weather patterns, is so immense it is called the Great Migration. This is one of the major attractions, and you can watch all the action with Qsafaris as the animals struggle to cross the river full of crocodiles and deep waters. Wildebeest, zebra and Thomson’s gazelle migrate into and occupy the Mara reserve from the Serengeti plains to the south and Loita plains in the pastoral ranches to the north-east from July to October or later.
